Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a senior-level air traffic control system specialist to assist the FAA.
- Coordinate activities with air traffic requirements and operations personnel.
- Coordinate support for required technical interchange meetings and various program reviews.
- Coordinate workgroup activities for ATO program offices.
- Provide expert advice and assistance with ATC operations, procedures and requirements development.
- Conduct system analysis and system/subsystem specifications analysis to ensure air traffic operational concerns are addressed and appropriate technical requirements are included.
- Present recommendations and solutions related to short and long-term program planning requirements.
- Familiarity with radar, radio, and computer systems used in air traffic control operations.
- Assist in training requirements development.
- Participate in aviation safety assessments and audits.
- Assist in the development and testing of new air traffic control systems and technologies, providing insights based on practical experience.
- Participate in and contribute to collaborative air traffic control initiatives by contributing to policy development and strategic planning
- Advise on regulatory compliance and ensure adherence to FAA and international aviation standards.
- Manage projects related to air traffic control or aviation operations, utilizing leadership and organizational skills
- Assist in the development and implementation of aviation policies and regulations, drawing from extensive industry knowledge.
- Create and review technical manuals, training materials and operational procedures related to air traffic control.
- Classify and summarize data for the preparation and submission of reports.
- Design and oversee the implementation of simulation exercises and training programs.
- Provide technical alternative analysis and risk mitigation.
- Previous experience in air traffic control or related fields can be advantageous; military air traffic control experience is often considered relevant.
- Bachelor degree in any field.
- Education Substitutions: Associate’s degree with 10 years of Air Traffic Control (ATC) active, full performance level experience, or 15 years of Air Traffic Control (ATC) active, full performance level experience is required, in lieu of degree. Equivalent experience in the U.S. Military or international control environment is acceptable.
- Strong verbal and written communication and technical skills.
- Ability to take on leadership or advisory roles to help the program achieve deadlines and goals.
- Ability to work in a team environment and work with other implementation and systems engineers to bring the system to life.
- US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US is required.
- Applicant selected for employment will be subject to a government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a government clearance.
- Experience as a remote worker demonstrating time management and self-discipline with cultural change management.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 15%.
